About the Role

Critical Element is seeking an Implementation Engineer to support the implementation and delivery of observability and monitoring solutions for enterprise customers. This is a customer-facing role focused on executing technical projects, driving successful outcomes, and ensuring a high-quality customer experience.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Grafana and the broader observability ecosystem, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to manage technical deliverables across multiple customer engagements. You will work closely with customers, architects, strategists, and fellow engineers to deploy, optimize, and support solutions that improve visibility into application performance, infrastructure health, and service reliability.

What You'll Do

• Lead technical implementations and customer delivery projects from kickoff through completion.
• Deploy, configure, and optimize Grafana-based observability solutions within customer environments.
• Configure telemetry collection and pipelines for metrics, logs, and traces using technologies such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and Grafana Alloy.
• Build dashboards, configure data sources, and implement actionable alerting aligned with customer needs.
• Gather technical requirements and assist with solution validation and deployment planning.
• Troubleshoot telemetry collection, data ingestion, query performance, and monitoring gaps across customer environments.
• Create and maintain implementation documentation, runbooks, and as-built deliverables.
• Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support customer migrations, platform rollouts, and post-deployment optimization efforts.
• Collaborate with Critical Element Architects, Strategists, and Engineers to ensure successful project execution.
• Contribute to process improvements and delivery best practices.

What We're Looking For

• Experience delivering customer-facing observability, monitoring, cloud, or infrastructure projects.
• Hands-on experience with Grafana, including dashboards, data source integrations, and alerting.
• Experience with Prometheus and familiarity with Grafana Loki, Tempo, or Mimir.
• Strong understanding of observability fundamentals, including metrics, logs, traces, and their use in troubleshooting distributed systems.
• Working knowledge of PromQL and familiarity with LogQL or TraceQL.
• Familiarity with Linux, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience troubleshooting technical issues across multiple integrated systems.
• Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Self-starter with a customer-first mindset who builds long-term relationships with the teams you work with.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing or supporting Grafana Cloud or Grafana Enterprise.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry instrumentation, collectors, and telemetry pipelines.
• Familiarity with service-level indicators (SLIs), service-level objectives (SLOs), and alerting best practices.
• Experience automating observability deployments with Terraform, Helm, or configuration management tools.
• Familiarity with telemetry cardinality, retention, sampling, and cost optimization.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale customer environments.
